Alternator (main belt) is slipping...or is it?

I replaced my main belt last month. Is it possible over-tighten the main belt? I have no way of telling how tight to have the belt other than to make sure it's snug. FSM doesn't really give clear guidance. Anyone got tips?

If it was put on last month and you havent tightened it again, I would bet you need to again.. New belts have to be checked after a few hundred miles because they stretch a little. If its squealing at start up and going away I really wouldnt worry about it, it could be just condensation on it.

check to see how loose it feels. If you can turn/twist the belt more than 90 degrees you may want to tighten it up. Don't tighten it up to where you can't twist it 90 degrees.
