adding heated seats and mirrors

well the title says it all. i have a 98 black on black se. and its got every thing except, woodgrain (which will come later),heated seats and mirrors, amb button, and lsd(comming soon).

my main question is what will i need to get either from a yard or dealer to make the mirrors and seats complete. i know the elements for the seats and the mirrors, buts are there any special boxes or anything else i should pick up?

it does not look like a task too hard to acomplish, any thoughts are welcome.

I'm trying to do the same thing, I was told that all of our car come pre wired for all the options so you will need to go looking for any tucked wires and it should be plug and play for the most part. The next thing you would need is the wiring dsgrams, if you have the Haynes/Chilton books just look in the back and follows the electrical diagrams. I am interested in the mirror elements in particular did you get them from the dealer or do you know a good place to get them let me know. dee_mil_2000@yahoo.com

The heated mirrors turn on with the rear defroster, but your car should be prewired. Take off one of your mirrors and you should only have one wire connector on your mirror (see pic: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33649) but the heated ones have two connectors (see pic: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33649) so just check to see if you will be able to plug in both connectors (you should). I'm not sure if there is a seperate fuse or if it uses the same one from the rear defroster (or maybe it needs a bigger one) but you'll have to look into that.

The connectors for the seats plug in under the seat on the floor (check and see if it's prewired) but you might have to do the wiring on your own. If it's prewired then you'll need to connect the seats to the connectors on the floor and then connect the heated seat switches to the wiring harness (the switches go right between the hand brake and arm rest - looks like little coin holders) and then add a fuse or something If it's not prewired for the seats then you'll have to do the wiring on your own (I think a few people have done it)

I am sure that the dealer can tell you that by your vin, or you can take off one of the mirrors as see how many plugs it has.

Splash some water on your mirrors and turn on the rear defroster. If the mirror drys up then you have heated mirrors (the mirror will feel a little hot when you touch it) or you can see how many connectors there are

I think the heated seats and heated mirrors came in the cold weather package so if you have one then you have the other (not 100% sure about this tho )

It was part of the cold weather package. Part of the cold weather package was side air bags in the seats. Wierd, but true. So, look on the sides of your seats for a big "SRS" in a dark grey piece of plastic.
