Hey guys, i'm looking at buying another max (our 4th max!) for my sis. It's a '97 GLE. It's in very good shape for having 144K miles.

Anyway... i test drove it today and i got a light-medium thumping noise from the right front area of the car when i go over bumps. Is this a shock/strut issue? Expensive? I might use it as leverage to lower the price of the car.

more than likely its a strut gone bad.. thats the only likely thing to make a noise while going over a speed bump... ive got +140K on my 97 SE and mine have slowly worn out in the past 20K miles.. with that many miles on it im sure that it needs new shocks/struts.. im fixing to buy some tokico illuminas with maxspeed lowering springs and expecting to pay about 545.. and then install them myself.. there is a write up in the how to section.. but price just depends on what youre looking for.. im going for performance shocks with performance lowering springs.. but you can get some regular replacements for cheaper.. but for sure use it as a leverage tool! good luck man..
