Loud engine sounds. Please read need help!

Right now when I get moving to about 35-50 mph and then start coasting with my foot off the accelorator (automatic) I get this loud pulsating sound from the engine and it goes away when I start to break and when the car comes to a stop. I'm not sure if it is just my CAI (Injen), but it seems louder than it used to be. I also live where it gets quite cold down to 5 degrees this winter where I live. Do the cold temps have anything to do with it?

I am also getting horrible gas milage. I used to get about 375 mi a tank, but now I'm dropping down to almost 250-275 mi.

God I hate the winters around here!

I know this is a very broad question but not sure if anyone else noticed louder conditions from CAI in winter. Car still performs great. I turn up the radio and it goes away. Am I just paranoid. Thanks for any imput.

hmm...sounds like the same thing that's happening to my car. do the rpms fluctuate when that pulsating happens? whenever i'm cruising at 30-45 mph with my foot of the gas, my rpms fluctuate every once in a while, even when cruising downhill. it's annoying as all get out and i can't figure out why it does that.

CAI does make ur car louder than normal. sound travels faster is cold weather. cold weather is better than hot weather for your car.

yah i do get some fluctuating rpms from time to time, but not during pulsating sound. I also have a really low idle rps like at 500-600 rpms. What is normal idle rpm and is there anyway to get this up easily? Sometimes is sounds and feels like it might stall out too.
