On my 96 GLE, can the chrome trim be taken off on the doors. What would I need to do to take it off.

 

if you want it just to be black, i painted them on the car with my old maxima. i taped them all off, cleaned them with alchol, sprayed several light coats of bullbog adhesive promoter, and then several light coats of flexible flat black bumper and trim paint. got them both from pep boys. lasted without chipping as long as i had the car

 

they can be removed but you have to be careful else they will break. They cost a pretty penny from the dealer, but if you find them used and for a good deal...jump on it

 

Black paint, or tape works great.
