Reprogramming computer
Reprogramming computer
I reprogram on my GM stuff all the time and would like to know if the software exists and where to get it to reprogram the computer in the OBD2 Nissans. I would like to alter some programming on my wifes car and see what those things have in them.

I am not looking for someone to program the computer for me. On my LS1 Trans-AM I use LS1 edit and a laptop hooked to the diagnostic port on my car and download the programming, alter it and then flash new programming back to the computer. These 4th gen cars have been out for 10 years. The softare has to be available. I just don't know where to get it.
Uh yeah last I checked we really dont have that ability to do that. We really don't have the flash chip (doesn't JWT basically put one in on ours I could be wrong) that you can just edit easily like on the GM's (I know my friend rubs it in on me that he gained a bit of hp with a cheap setup and I want a 600 dollar computer that gets half of what he got).
Even with our cars being 10 years old people the ecu companies still had have a hard time cracking the codes. I mean they can only really do it to certain ecus and only one company can really raise your revs. So its just a matter of Nissan making it fairly difficult to do and not really releasing any info on how to do it.

I know how you feel. There has been easy and relatively inexpensive ecu mods for the domestic and some japanese makers. ie... GM/Ford/Chevy/Mitsu.
But Nissan is an oddball. They use a very diff type of ecu coding. Cracking Nissan codes is not easy. So while there are some ecu/standalone stuff for certain nissans, maximas are left out in the cold. As maximas are a very small market in relative automotive terms.
JWT and Technosquare sell altered ecus only. No option for an unit to reflash like the domestic guys.
