Hey my freind just got a 1999 maxima, auto, and when you put the car in drive with the brake depressed or at low RPMS. the car jerks and idle rough. it seems like its about to stall out. also its giving off a sulfur smell from the exhuast. NO CEL is coming up. Someone please help he just got the car like 3 days ago.

Well how low do the rpms go? Like on my car the iacv valve is still being a pain so every once and a while the rpms drop when I put the clutch in. I would clean the TB, IACV, air filter, fuel filter, plugs if he knows the previous owner hadn't done it in a while. You cant really check the codes on a 99 can you (thought there was no screw).? Also hope it isnt coil packs etc but never know.

Sulfur smell is from bad cat isnt it guys ?

I am sure someone much more experianced will come in here and blow everything I say out of the water but I basically recomend doing a full tuneup whenever you get a new car so you know that everything is right.

yea theres a screw no codes are coming up. we just changed the spark plugs and it still continues to do it the car is an automatic so when in drive or in reverse it shakes when standing still but when your cruising its fine. the idle is fine its lik 800

my friend took it to the dealership, and the reason was a dirty throttle body and ignition coil #5 was bad
