stalls

my car, which has given me some problems in the past, has a new one for me. whenever the car has sit for a long period of time (ex - overnight, when i am at work), and when i start the car and go to change gears, whether its drive or reverse, the car will stall out. so i have to let it sit for 5 minutes and warm up a little first. i dont know what is causing this... if anybody knows please let me know
thanks

i'm having the exact same problem. i pulled codes and got 0504, which is "Automatic Transmission Control Unit Signal to ECU". I didn't have any time (or patience) to delve into it, so I dropped it off at the dealer tonight. It's parked outside, hopefully it will be cold enough tomorrow morning for it to do it. My keys are in the key drop... I only authorized the dealer to do diags, so when I find out what it is I may fix it myself. I'll update this thread (and the other thread I made 2 days ago about the same thing) when I find out what the dealio is...

so, the dealer called today. the tech said the maf sensor got fouled up due to the dried salt on the roads being kicked up into the air, and that was causing the stalling. he also said the code i got for "auto trans control unit signal to ecu" was related to that, which i highly doubt. i'm pretty sure he cleared the codes and told me it was ok because he's a douchebag.

on a side note, even though i ONLY authorized diags to be performed on my car, and I told them I would not spend any more than $75 without my approval, you can imagine my surprise when I went to pick it up and they went ahead and cleaned the maf sensor without my approval, and somehow that cost $250. so I told them I will only be paying $75 which is what I approved, and they wouldn't release my car, so I called my lawyer, and we will both be going there tomorrow to pick up my car.

well, it sure can't hurt anything to clean it. i bet you can do it for less than $250... ******* dealer

take out the maf and shoot some electrical contact cleaner inside, see what results you get... let me know how it works out
