about to smog this week, any advice...

I am running the WSP mandrel y pipe, magnaflow or carsound high flow cat (can't remember), mandrel b pipe and there "quiet" muffler...additionally, I have brand new plugs, and 02 sensors, new PCV valve and fuel filter as well as air filter...also only 1000 miles on my oil (mobil 1 10w30 with new nissan filter) and BG MOA in it and I just had the BG fuel/air service done on my car (fancy for professional, computer monitored injector service...this service did wonders for my car btw), I have always run 91/premium octane as well...

question is if I get it good an warm before I smog, what are my odds of passing?

any other tips you guys might have to increase my chances of passing (I hate cali smog standards!!!)?

on another note, Dallas at WSP told me a few guys who weren't passing were actually running premium grade gas, then he told them to put 87 in, they actually passed vs. with running the premium grades which seems odd...

I do have my stock y pipe and cat laying around...but am trying to avoid swapping those in cause I think they are both rusted out from letting them sit around for so long...

so I passed....I only had to go to a "TEST ONLY" station....when I got there, there was a Viper GTS on the rollers....he passed also...lol

the guy didn't want to do it cause he saw the apexi dry cone filter I had and maf adapter...so luckily I had the stock airbox and K&N panel filter that was somewhat dirty at home...clean the filter, resprayed it, then drove around for 20-30mins....the guy was cool though...he didn't give me crap for any of my other mods...he even kept revving it as he pulled it into the bay as he knew I was modded out and he had to keep it hot...he even asked me when I got there if I drove around for a while before hand and to leave the car running...

so in conclusion I passed in the strichtest state, CA...with full aftermarket exhaust including a high flow cat....all except for headers...which are next...I hope I pass with those....although I don't see those changing anything...I had the BG fuel injector service done a few days before hand...so I owe it to BG and their great chemicals for passing me....I maxed out the allowable HC ppm test at 15 mph...the 25 mph test was a little better....but on the 15mph I got 85 with a maximum allowable 85...phew...glad I passed and glad it's over for another 2 years!!! on the CO and NO tests...I passed easily...they were very low!

I should say on your registration notice at the top whether you need to go to an official smog station or a test only station...a test only is a lot less rigorous I think...the difference is a test only station is not able to make repairs or diagnose why you failed...

so on the top of the registration sheet, can i only go to the type of station it says? like i cant go to a test only unless it says i can? are test only stations also cheaper?

you have to go to where it says....I think they are about the same price...in fact "official smog stations" seems to be more common than test only stations where I live...

I'm in the LA area also. Where did you get the BG service done -- I might like to try.

I think the test only stations are the newer ones. They only do smog and have a dino-type machine. I think CA is gonna switch everyone to test only when they have enough places.

go to www.bgprod.com and click on find a shop on the top of the page...after you put in your zip code or whatever, it takes for ever to bring up the list....but just wait...it will come up...

let us know afterwards how much of a difference you noticed...

To be on the ABSOLUTE "safe" side, I would drive mine at least 60 miles nonstop, and NOT turn it off when you get to the smog station.

How much did you pay for that fuel injector cleaning?

it took an hour and a half and was 115...another place quoted 90 for the same service, but they were a lot further away...I was lazy

I only drove around for about 20mins...but revving at every redlight a little, revved it there before I pulled in and drove spirited but not really aggressive or anything...
