....because it's a scam, or it does actually work but you have no idea how much is enough to get the gunk off without harming the engine. There are plenty of threads around here that say "seafoam is great!" but there are just as many that say "I just seafoamed and now my car is doing __________" (insert some 'broken' symptom here).

Want your car to run right? Don't pour junk in it.

HHmmmm....I've used it and my car has never been so smooth. I really think the whole "Seafoam f'd up my car" is a matter of someone not doing something right.

why don't you just get the BG "air and fuel induction service" which is a fancy way of saying a computerized automated professional injector service...which basically does what seafoam does and goes through the brake booster and cleans out everything north of the piston rings....you will have the peace of mind that a machine is doing it, that is also being monitored by an actual mechanic....it is expensive though and takes about an hour to an hour and a half...I just had it done for $115...and the difference was immediate and huge!!! my engine has 134K miles on it, the difference was significant...and we all know BG makes some of the best professional products on the market today...(ie. BG 44K, BG MOA, etc.), just go to www.bgprod.com and click on find a shop...then enter your zip code and it will find local places that are resellers and/or service centers that use their products and perform their services...you could probably get it done for like 90 bux....I overpaid.....

Here we are talking about relatively inexpensive $5.5 Seafoam treatment and definitely $115 is huge and expensive !!!

What gunk? Gas tank -> fuel lines -> fuel filter -> fuel injectors -> engine -> exhaust.

Thanks .. i asked coz i just put in a new fuel filter and didn't want to clog it straightaway if that junk from fuel tank gathers in it. I guess after 3 Techron uses, my previous fuel filter was clogged, but hopefully the tank is now cleaner and seafoam wouldn't pull out anything more out of the tank.

Maybe I got little confused with the Auto-Rx thing ...

thanks jeff

I probably wouldn't. Granted I've not really looked that much into seafoam, but I like to take a minmalist approach on mechanic-in-a-bottle approaches.

I bought some of this and im going to use it through my brake booster.
I talked to the guy at the Auto parts place here, and he told me that out of all the bottled crap in a can, that seafoam actually works, and it works 'dam* good'.

Plus my auto mechanic told me it works great too.

Used SeaFoam a couple of times and didn't run into any problems using it (used about 1/5 of the can the first time I did it). Try doing it in small doses (or don't use it) if you're worried about something happening...

I agree with that.

I used 2 cans, cleaned out the system good. Idle was better, now once I cnage this fuel fitler, cause I know its holding a lot of gunk, it will be butter smooth.

But Jeff, the super fishy moderator, just told above that you don't need to change fuel filter

Well, it probably depends on how many miles you have had your present fuel filter. I didn't know when it was replaced before, so I just replaced it. It was clogged and black colored gas was comin out of it.

I have many miles on my currenty filter so, It already needed a changing before I ran the seafoam, so its about time for it to come out.

Hey, bklyncat718 did you ever get the answer on using seafoam or how to use it?

I used it today, works great! I can tell i have more toque mostly, maybe a lil more power.. I can chirp gears once again with my Auto/VB Mod (o:

All you gotta do is warm your engine, disconnect the brake booster line coming from the brake booster on the firewall.. follow that vaccum hose from there to the intake, youll know if its the right one cuz when u disconnect it youll hear it sucking air.

Just get a small yogurt cup, thats about 1/3rd pint.. and let it suck it up from the hose little by little.
Raise your RPM's just a tad, maybe 1200rpm, as the vaccum line lowers the idle when disconnected.

Need anymore help let me know.

Dave

Who actually said that Seafoam releases huge chunks of gunk that will cause your filter to clog? I'm still running the same filter and not having any proplems whatsoever.

I replaced my fuel filter a week before i used seafoam. I havent had any issues with mileage, and dont plan on replacing the fuel filter again until it's expected time or mileage.

How do most of you use your seafoam? as a fuel additive or through your injection system? I dont have a problem doing both, but it really works great through the injection system!

If you take your time, then it shouldn't harm your car....I used half in my fuel tank and half in the vacuum lines. Take it easy and nothing should happen.

I saw all the carbon deposits coming out of the fart can Greddy
