ring around key hole color change

well im prolly going to be doing a full blue led interior light conversion tonight and when i mean full i mean full; so that means that i dont want to have any light color to remain the stock dim whiteish color. i got all the how tos for pretty much all the lights but i didnt see one for changing the light around the key hole from green to whatever. i think i remember people sharpie-ing over this light to change the color but the bad thing is my light is only half illuminated so id like to replace it. ive got plenty of leds to work with in both 5mm and 3mm size so my question is how would i go about replacing this light. also if someone has changed theirs to a different color how did they do it?

I sharpied mine.. its not worth it.. it fades after a few months.

Going to convert it to white or blue. I had a how-to for it but cant find it. should be pretty darn easy, id just wire up an led with the right resistor and try it out.

I did it. Forget the number though. You'll want to wrap the ring in aluminum foil too to brighten it up a bit. You have to remove the plastic cover by your knees and maybe that metal guard that goes over the steering column (under the cover you just removed) then the plastic covers that go around the steering column. If you know how to change the lights in your gauges then you already know about all that.

aight thanks. i dont have a #74 bulb but i do have a bunch of leds and 12v resistors. could i solder them up with leds and just remove the bulb? or is it just not worth it to mess with the leds and buy a bulb?

Just try these out. I just ordered 2 white and 2 blue on ebay.

of course you could solder them up with a resister yourself but you should test the voltage first. its 12volts i beleive so youd need a resister for that particular led.
