Come help me make some custom catback decisions!

Well my rusted out stock catback finally came apart where the rear pipe meets the back end of the resonator. I've got a quick-fix weld there presently, but that'll only hold for so long.

So I think next weekend I'm going to bring it to the exhaust shop where they're going to custom-make me a catback. I've got a few questions for the crowd out there that has had this done...

I was thinking about doing 2.5" all the way back, but I may just go with the stock-size piping, because I don't want it to be a lot louder. I've come to realize that my maxima will never be an M5 or the like, so I'm not sure if the trade-off (louder noise all the time for 6-7 hp) is worth it.

I'm for sure going to go with a muffler from the muffler shop, I'm not too into those bigger, louder performance mufflers.

So, sorry this was so long, but does anyone have any insight/ideas/suggestions for me? If I have one or two resonators and a good muffler, will my car sound about the same with 2.5" as it would with the stock-size piping?

P.S. I currently have a Cattman CAI and Warpspeed Y-pipe installed.

Buy the Greddy exhaust and you won't hear pretty much anything.

I'd think about the Greddy, but being a college student I'm not financially ready for a $450+ catback...

By the way, what is the diameter of the stock catback? 2.25"? I checked the FAQs and my Haynes manual, but couldn't find anything.

Stock is 2.25.

I got a custom resonated catback using a dynomax superturbo. Louder than stock, but not at all intrusive. I would definitely recommend it.

*UPDATE*

Well I got the catback exhaust, and it sounds a lot better and smoother, though a lot louder. It's fun to listen to right now, but seeing as my Max is my daily driver, I know it's going to get really old really quick.

The guy at the exhaust shop didn't put on a resonator, but I talked him into putting a resonator on at a labor-free cost if I wanted one on later. My question now is will a resonator really quiet it down? I was surprised at how good it sounded without a resonator with all the sound clips I've heard on the .org, but I just want it quite a bit quieter, but louder than stock is fine by me.

Any suggestions?

Alright, I think I'll do that

Would 2 resonators be overkill?

I just want this thing as quiet as possible with my current mods; I got a new muffler that's a lot smaller than my stock one too, so I may ask for a more effective one or something....

I don't think 2 resonators will fit but with 1 you will be ok. Good luck post pics.

there is someone on here that has 2 resonators, and it wont be overkill, cuz you still get the performance, with a more resonated sound

*ANOTHER UPDATE*

Ok, I went back to the exhaust shop and they threw on a resonator and a quieter muffler (the one they had on before was some turbo muffler or something, pretty dang loud in my opinion)...

Here are the results. I really like it, a little louder and more aggressive than stock, but still super quiet. Plus, the muffler is subtle, which is what I wanted.
