Cruise Control Problem HELP

Ok here's the deal my cruise works intermitton. I'll be driving down the hiway with the cruise on and then all of a sudden the cruise kicks off and the cruise light on the dash starts blinking until I shut the cruise off. Then after waiting 5-60 minutes I'll turn the button and try to set the cruise and the light starts blinking. Then latter on i'll try the cruise and it works fine for a while then kicks off again. Any ideas what's up?

Pop the switch off and see if the connector is loose. Maybe the relay in the engine bay is loose.

if it's not that, which i bet it is, then it could be your speed sensor.

My vote goes to the speed sensor.

Check the ECU for stored codes.

Is the speed sensor a common problem? Could it also be causing my idle to drop when I come to a stop light? It does that once in a while. I'll be driving and starting to slow down and i'll push the clutch in and the idle drops way below normal then comes back up.

Mine is gone for sure. I used to get it every other month, not it just dies after a few trips. The speed sensor might be the culprit but I myself doubt it.

Does anyone know where the speed sensor is located? Local auto parts store has two listed one in the trans and one in the wheel hub assembly.

If it is the one in the trans I have a 5 spd trans out of a 90 SE would that speed sensor work?

I doubt it would work. The speed sensor is on top of the trans, somewhere under the throttle body, in that area I believe. I need to find mine as well, looks like a ***** to get to.

it's not all that bad to change. atleast it wasn't on my 95 auto. you basically take out the stock intake up to throttle body and you look down past the fuel filter and you'll see a white tube. that tube connects the sensor to its harness. buy the part from ken at www.jerryromenissan.com because he gives us a good discount and is a nice guy. i think mine, plus a 300zx fuel filter was like $32 shipped or something. goodluck
