For the last month, OFF and ON the tranny slips while im driving (If i hit the gas while im driving the car reaves), but only when im coming to a stop , or at low speeds.0-10 mph. Also when i accelarate there is alot of power lost.
Also when im on the highway the gears dont fall into place like they should
The car will redline without shifting into a different gear. and my gas mileage sucks ***** a full tank will last adout 190-200 miles the car is a 95 max gle auto
Is the tanny going bad or is it a sensor

MY guess is mostl probably the tranny although i will be the first to admit I am not a slushbox afficianado.

 

Sounds normal for an older tranny. How many miles?


Try coming to a complete stop and gun it. If it feels fine (shifting and what not), your symptoms are prolly normal.


If you're on the highway...its kinda hard to say with what you've said.

Lock out 4th and see if it feels okay.....If it does, prolly normal.

 

I have the same exact problem on my 96 Auto with 122k.. The problem with my tranny happens when going from a stop shifting 1st-2nd gear. It really only does this until the car has completely warmed up and I have gone through the gears some by driving.. I am not experiencing any power loss like you say, but I think that is just how the auto's are. Whenever I take off from a stop and slam on the gas the tranny shifts fine and smooth. It really happens when the engine is not fully warned and/or I am driving slowely takin it easy on my max that I notice it..

 

i got the car used i think the tranny has 140 k on it , but this is not normal for sure. The car always redlines when im on the highway it never changrs gears. rpms never drops.
