my boss usually allows me a 15 min BREAK for my 5 hour shifts, but I usually change my BRAKES every 6-8 months or so. Usually, its 2 sets of pads for the fronts for every one set of rear pads.

Alot of it has to depend on how you drive your car, and how many miles you put on the brakes. I would have to say that about 2 years sounds like it's time to replace the pads. Also, if your pads still have plenty of material left on them, you may want to get your rotors turned. Warping, or uneven rotor wear might be causing all that noise in your rear brakes. Either way it cant hurt to replace the pads.

I think the rears in my 00 went 78k. I changed them at that, having bought it at 37k, and I'd not be surprised if they were originals. Fronts obviously last less

you're both actually wrong about MAxima breaks. Gen. 4 breaks add 15 hp, but once your engine is warm, the breaks are known to add upto 50hp. I just got new Stillen breaks installed...sweet mod

I think you're going to fail if you don't stop skipping your English classes.

This sort of thing is dictated by mileage, not by time. How many miles are on your brake pads? I usually get about 40,000 miles from the fronts and about 50,000 miles from the backs. Depending on how much you drive, how you drive, and where you drive, that number could be anywhere from a few months to five years. If you're in doubt, just replace them. You can do the whole car with good pads for under $100.

I like to speard my breaks around throughout the day. It sort of makes the day go by faster sometimes. Sometimes I take my breaks at 10am and again around 3pm. There are days I change my breaks to 11 and 4, depending on my work load.

I think only girls change their pads on breaks, men don't use pads unless they have an uncontrollable bladder problem. Then it would be a good idea to change pads on every break you get.

Personally if I were the boss, there would be no breaks.

what if you have brakes and the front driver and rear passenger calipers are seized? are there any calipers that would not seize as easily as factory nissans? I rarely use my e-brake, why do they seize damnit?!

I really don't think they seize easily...I've had only one caliper seize up and that was at 186,000 miles (I ALWAYS park with my e-brake). Even when it did, the car still drove...but it got really hot. I was trying to make it to this house party in south Jersey from school in Philly on a Friday night...unfortunetly it got so hot that the brake fluid started to boil. When the pedal went to the floor I decided it was a good idea to call it quits, good thing it was only a mile away from the place!

Fortunetly I was able to knock it free the next morning and just took a nice easy ride home (another 100 miles) checking every 15 miles or so with the back of my hand in the wheel well. I called ahead and picked up a new caliper that afternoon, piece of cake.

depends on driving habits and what type of transmition you have. I got a stick and tend to downshift to slow down. Just replaced my original pads and rotors 84k on them...
