I have an idea, Get a 3.5-4 inch exhaust, cut it in half down the middle, weld in flat metal so you have two D shaped pipes running all the way to the back. True dual. As far as muffler fitment, stick a couple of old glasspacks on just before the outlet. If you think this is a good idea, run with it and post pics. If you think this is a stupid idea, remember that I have no intention of spending my time or money on it.

I have a couple pansie friends and I really don't need another one. If you can't resolve an issue with someone by yourself and you need to tell your mommy, mods, then I feel sorry for you. Then again.

Wow Ninos I don't mean to insult you or bring this thread any farther into a mudslinging contest, but you need to educate yourself a bit more about this stuff. You have almost 2x the posts as me and I still can't believe some of the stuff you ask/say. Everyone goes through stages of "dual exhaust, twin turbo" ideas but it is better to just think it through and read on here that it probably won't happen on here during those times unless you want to actually throw money into doing it. As Abe Lincoln (I think) said, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

If you really want to do it than go ahead, do it, dyno before and after, and show us the end result. If you come here asking about it then you will probably just get naysayers. There was a lot of people saying the -k and the VQ35 would never be put in a 4th gen but IMO that is something a little different. I would love for you to prove me wrong and find that dual exhaust gives awesome gains and be 100% worth the hassle, but most of the evidence shows it won't be.

Modding a car is not a cheap outlet for originality. It is one things to try not to look exactly like everything else; it is another to try to spend thousands on something for the sole purpose of being original or to be the first to do something. Just putting a pointless true dual exhaust on a maxima is not going to make me or most of the people on this site respect you any more. We need more pioneering on this site. There is still a lot to learn about the capabilites of this car and engine but this is not the best place to start.

Anyway, Dual exhaust is mostly a huge V8 thing. They would have to run a huge exhaust pipe to have adequate flow and it is more feasible to run two smaller pipes than to do that. With most small engines dual exhaust is stupid and useless, even when turboed. Dual exhaust also weighs a lot more. Look at most of the higher performance import cars, many of them stock don't even bother with dual exhaust. I know Nissan and toyota could have done it on the the Skyline and Supra but didn't even bother.

You can sometimes create more scavening effect with dual exhaust with proper exhaust "tuning" but with the problems and cost this project creates it will never be a power creating mod any more than a "fake" dual exhaust would be. It will never be equal length, and you really would never see gains unless you had custom made long tube headers (cattmans don't count). If anything you will be making your car slower by adding the extra weight to be original over the traditional higher flow single setup. A 3" really wouldn't be a good idea unless he had something drastic.

look into exhaust theory a little. Here is a good place I have found to start.
http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscella...austtheory.htm It is a honda site but they know what they are talking about and they have the most information on one site that I can find off hand.
