these pictures are comparing the stock tensioner to the new one i order. i used the two bolts to line up the two holes on the tensioners. they don't seem to align properly.

did i get the wrong part? should i reuse the old tension with the new spring and plunger? please help!

Called my local nissan parts guy, he said that is in fact the right part number, but that it also listed two other timing chain tensioners and recommended changing all three. I've changed the timing tensioner on my 300zx, but I have not done one a maxima.

As for using the old tensioner with the new spring and plunger, I suppose that would get the job done, as you are only reusing the non-critical parts (basically stock metal), and as long as you take care not to damage any of it, you should be able to.

If you want to talk to my parts guy, shoot me a PM and I'll give you their number.
