Old guys Max gets warpspeed Y
Stopped by Warpspeed this morning and had them install the new style Y pipe with the spring loaded flex section, replacing the rusted leaking OEM on my 95. Fits well and was nicely installed, and I quietly drove 300 miles home with a noticed inprovement in on ramp acceleration.
Also watched them build a few Y's with both the mesh flex and spring loaded sections. Based on my experience with buying parts and assemblies for manufacturing equipment for several years, and having also been certified as a quality auditor, I would say that Warpspeed's maufacturing process is very solid.
No, I don't work for them or own stock, nor did I get this done for free. Just trying to offer an objective view of what I observed. I don't see any potential, but if problems ever develop with the spring load section I will post.

Hey Lyndon5, it's a small world - I live in Topeka as well, and last September I went to Rogers AR and had a complete 3 inch system put in by Dallas and Mike at Warpspeed. Got some good digital photos, too. I'm planning on a PFI tubo to go with the MEVI, but presently am just finishing up a dual-stage NX NOS system for this summer.
And - I'm older than you!!!

Flex sections tear/rip
Hence, I wonder if the springs do so, as well.

You guys need to remember, Maximas are NOTORIOUS for breaking motor mounts.. although you guys may not notice it now... broken/ripped flex sections are a tell tale sign of bad motor mounts, especially since these cars are almost 10 years old.
Its not always just a "bad" flex... bad mounts, abuse of car like launching it and causing wheel hop will make a flex section flex toooo much and damage it.

Damn, here I thought I was the senior member as I had not seen anyone on here older than 41. Most are half my age and now I see there's at least two that are older.
Boys will always play with cars, it's just that the price of these cars tends to put them in the hands of the younger crowd. I own one because they depreciate very fast making them a used car bargain AND they are available with a 5-speed. There's really no need to spend more money on a daily driver. I also have an M3 race car that I've stuck plenty of $$ into. I've done a few minor cosmetic mods on the Maxima, but it's pretty much stock. I really need to do some suspension work, but just not sure how much money I want to stick into a $6k car. I have the original suspension with 135k miles!
