I noticed today that when my max is in drive and i rev the engine it will rev normally. However when i let off the rpms drop but there is a hesitaion at 1500 and then it goes back down to idle. What could be causing this?

Could it be related to my hesiation when driving? When cruising i feel the throttle let up then it kicks back in sometimes violently (however there is no drop in RPMs on the tach).

perhaps a loss of vacuum....check your lines for a leak.
