Leaky Sunroof

Leaky Sunroof
I just bought a `95 Maxima and apparently the sunroof is leaking by the condition of the headliner. I've seen a ton of posts about the gutters. Does the headliner have to be removed to get to them? Also....it looks as though I'm gonna have to adjust the resting postion of the sunroof as it's traveling too far down when closed. I guess that's done with shims.

Most likely the drain tubes are clogged. You'll need to remove the headliner to really investigate.
When I got my 95 Maxima, it appears someone had replaced the Sunroof motor at some point. It would not return to the closed postion correctly and I'd have to mess around with the buttons to get it level or to even get it to open. I used the vent button to get the sunroof to sit level and then I removed the sunroof motor. With it removed I ran the motor slightly in one direction, reinstalled it and tested the operation. After a few attempts I figured out the correct motor position and buttoned everything back up. Total time was about 15 minutes to fix my sunroof.
