Just insalled my udp

Just insalled my udp

Well i just finished installing a unorthodox udp on my 96 auto.
The install wasn't that hard.It took me a few hours but if i had to do it again i could do it in about 45 minutes.
The hardest part was getting the power steering belt on and off.The rest was very easy.
I tried using Gates belt K040292 belt but there was no way it was going to fit. I was planing on runing to the store to get Gates belt K040300 instead i tried my stock belt and it fit fine it should be gates belt k040305.
Unless the one that came off my car was smaller then stock the only reason to change it is if it is in bad shape.
I will have to double check on the size of belt that is on their now.

I'm not going to say there are any gains until i hit the track in may and break my old et.My butt dyno does tell me there is some gain though.I noticed no dimming of my lights or anything negative from installing the udp.

any noise diffrence?? whining or anything??i know its not a SC but i figured it may wind up since it revs out quicker..

Stupid question... How was the install itself? Were you able to bolt it up fine without the crank spinning? I read somewhere you have to access the flywheel and jam something in there to prevent it from spinning... just wondering

Have one on my 96 I30... Only difference you can ever tell on mine is it whines a bit when cold. When it is warmed up it is gone. I have been told that is a bit of a tell on a car with udp if you are street racing... Anyway... Go Nissan!!!

The only hard part was the ps part of the job. Yes i had to access the flywheel from the port on the bottom of the trans case.I used a 3/8 inch flat wood drill bit to lock the flywheel.I have air tools but my air wrench wasn't powerful enough to break the bolt free.So i used the air tolls when i could.

When I did mine, I did it with a friend. I sat in the car, held the brakes, while he used a 2ft cheater bar and it broke free no problem. Dont jam **** in the flywheel =/

I wanted to get one of those pulleys until I heard the alternator does not put out as much amperage with one of those. I love my stereo cranked up too much.

When I installed my UDP i didnt notice much of a change at all.
I know it freed of some power just due to the weight savings. The OEM pulley is HEAVY.
If you want your RPMs to climb really quick, get an lightned flyheel.
When I put mine in the first thing I noticed was how quickly the rpms climbed.
Ive had the UDP on for over 3yrs now and havent had any real issues other then the ac doesnt blow as hard at an idle as it does when Im rolling due to the pulley size.
It hasnt affected my stereo at all, no dimming lights or cutouts.
I also am not pushing 1000watts or soemthing crazy like that just a Punch 500 and an MTX PRO 504 400watt amp.
Both amps are only putting out a fraction of theoir power which sounds fine to me so theirs no need to push them any harder.
Im also using a Optima battery so Im sure that helps.

Thats all fine and dandy that you have a 5 speed and can do that.But i stated this was on an auto.So if you don't jam anything in the flywheel how would you go about locking the flywheel so the udp doesn't turn?
