custom in dash vs. slide out

What type of a TV you think looks better in the maxima.
The ones that slide out. Or the ones that you custom install so it is flush with the dash. I am gonna do it, need a decision to what type I should do. because I went on e-bay you can get one of those manual slide out screens and an in dash dvd/cd/mp3 player for $300. Or I can custom mount a 7" screen and install a DVD in the glove

P.S. On the ones custon installed in dash do you get glare problems, because of the angel.

yo dude.....I got a 7inch Microvision mounted flush in the dash...its banging.....no glare problems....I think it looks MUCH better than a pop out screen...but thats just me....also dude u dont even need to get a dvd mounted in the glove box.....they make single DIN cd/dvd/fm-am/mp3 players that go right underneath the screen.........I wish I had pix to show u.....I have the 7"screen and right underneath is a (ravdvd1)Rockford Fosgate Dvd/mp3/cd/fm player.....its really a nice setup....Pioneer makes a nice dvd/mp3/cd/fm as well....but they are kinda pricey.....I got my fosgate for 255 refurbished-its pretty decent....no probs yet ....the screen was 175 shipped on the group deal thing ....any ?'s let me know!!... I love dvd in my max

dunno how much your looking to spend, but there are some double din units with big screens where the screen will flip down to reveal the cd opening. eclipse makes a few nice ones.. they have one now that you can even burn cd's from whats playing on the radio, and has like a 30 gig hard drive, along with a dvd and mp3. all in one unit. they aint cheap.. but its an option..

If your going to spend money on that you might as well just put a computer in. You would be able to do all of that plus gps, wireless internet, and whatever else you can do on a computer. If i were you guys and were putting a screen in again i would atleast buy a touchscreen with a vga input that way if you ever do decide to upgrade (which you probably will want to) you dont have to buy another screen. You can buy touchscreens for not that much more than regular composite screens too. Just some suggestions

Pioneer makes a touchscreen. Eclipse makes a touch screen. I'm not sure about the others.

eBay item 5757994290 (Ends Mar-14-05 22:13:07 PST) - BRAND NEW 7" TOUCH SCREEN LCD MONITOR w/ VGA CONNECTION

what you guys think of this screen, can i hook that up with just a regular dvd player and have the VGA connection wire run to the side for when i wanna hook up my labtop. i don't know if that has a yellow out put. also is the resolution, good. i don't know anything

if it does ish a greatt deal, i will hook it up to a dvd player in the glove. leave the VGA and USB wire run to the side under the seat. and when i want i can just hook in my labtop and i have everything right there.

Yeah thats why im planning on doing, going mini-atx or even nano (via board).

You can do MP3, GPS, Internet, Games, and the main reason would be the ODBII readings in real time. Plus, Ive been messing around with a couple programs to emulate the ECU so you can change settings while driving.

I dont have either, but personally I think the flip out looks so much nicer then an exposed screen.
The only thing is the flip out screens are more pricey then a exposed mounted screen.
A lot of the flip outs are players as well.

http://www.scantool.net/products/index.htm this will hook into a computer and give you real time data but it does not allow for any changing of the ECU settings. plus there cheap about 100 or you can buy the parts and make it yourself.

hey i just bought that exact same screen on ebay earlier today. The only difference was mine was 195 shipped with second day air. Look around you should be able to find it a little bit cheaper. If you dont have a screen ordered by like wednesday ill let you know what i think of mine when i get it. I can write up a little review for anyones that interested.

Oh yeah and obd-II i forgot about that... add it to the list of can-dos with a computer

i looked up the ODBII readings software definitely makes me wanna pick this way over the typical screen. i have an old pentium 2 laptop sitting in my room with a dead battery. i can put that under the passenger seat. set up a power converter, and run the VGA and USB cable to it, and maybe even set up this ODBII readings setup and run the wire to under the seat. and as the description on e-bay says it has two video inputs i can use one to a reverse cam. and second to a dvd player in the glove. i am so exited heheheheheh

screen ......... $200
ODBII ............$100
Labtop...........$0.00 -MP3,DVD,Hard Drive, Wireless Internet, GPS, and do Homework
Rev. Cam....... $50.00
DVD..............$100 ..optional
Total.............$ 450
