avoid the 'kits' if you can, unless you enjoy huge hotspots and blinding oncoming traffic with uncontrolled glare. best way is to retrofit OEM projectors into you headlight housing. several members here already went that route with amazing results. i plan to do the same in the coming months. price is not too much more than what a kit cost. i got my setup for $340 which included projectors, bulbs, ballasts, and shrouds. i made the mistake of buying a hid kit, the ouput from both bulbs were less than that of one E46 projector.

as said above, u are going to want to stay away from the hid kits. a retrofit is the best way to go.

here is the thread from when i did mine. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=371331

to learn about retrofiting more go to hidplanet.com's forums.

there are gonna be the people that have the HID kits saying, "oh just aim them down" this is a load of BS, you are still gonna have a ton of glare, because our housings were not meant for HIDS, only for regular 9004 bulbs. Like these two guys said, just go with the retrofit

also, you have to aim them really down to avoid blinding oncoming traffic, and by doing so, you only light up the immediate front of your car, which really defeats the purpose of having HID to better illuminate the road. and if you aim it high enough to light down the block, you'll be glaring like no tomorrow. maybe you don't personally care since its not blinding you, but people will start flashing you and you'll attract the wrath of the police.

i lovehow all these people are commenting on the hid they do not even own.....one guy here saying to not get one also has this on his cadomain page

"Plans For My Max-
KYB AGX Struts/H&R Springs
Cat-back exaust
Cefiro headlights
H4 HID kit
Completely Re-Do Sound System
18 in Rims"

I will say projectors are insane compared to an HiD kit. BUt i do not regret buying mine at all. If you take good percautions with it you will not blind people and you will improve your visibility greatly.

aim them down
aim them to the inside twoards the passenger alittle
and other stuff.

you do not have to aim them down to where they just light up in front of you.
I have had my 6000k kit for almost a year and ahlf and after i adjusted them corrently i have not been flashed since i have done so. I ride behind cops all the time cause i live 2 miles fromt the headquarters,a nd i have never really had any problems.

Exactly. Thats how I have set mine up. Slightly more towards the passenger side and aimed pretty low. I have been going down hills towards cops and they have done nothing. I have also tested to make sure by riding with a friend and having him get in front of me, drive toawds me and then drive up a hill towards me. If you take precautions as stated they do not blind people....just make sure to adjust them.

I would have gotten the projectors and all but I don't have time for a big project like that and the 8000k kit I have produces amazing results. Good luck.

Your best option is to go with projectors. You won't pay that much extra for them. The output and light quality that you'll get is unmatched an the kit will never come close. Now with that said. Sticking a kit will ahieve far greater lighting than your standard halogens. If you must get a kit. I would recommend 4100K-6000K Anything above that is pure **** and a waste of money. 7000K-14000K is garbage. Don't let anyone fool you. Plus your 4100K-6000K bulbs will color shift anyway so don't waste you time with those higher K bulbs. Also with a kit get a harness so you don't melt your factory one. I plan on retro in some bi-xenons in soon.
