95 Maxima fault code 1205 Line Pressure Solenoid Valve
I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima SE Automatic:
My check engine light came on after some pretty sporatic hard shifting through all gears. Somtimes the shifting is just fine, at other times it's like a bronco. At any rate, I checked the ECU code and got code 1205 "Line Pressure Solenoid Valve." I checked the O/D diagnosis code and got the same thing.
Has anyone had this error code before? How did you fix the problem? Do you think a power flush might do the trick? Do you think the drop resistor would cause this error code if it went bad or shorted? Any advice or feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.

ok here is the deal on this.... I had the same exact problem on my 96. The valves are inside the tranny and i was told by a mechanic that they get clogged sometimes thus causing the hard shifting. The part you need is like $220 but nissan made a "kit" that included the valves, bolts, etc for like $125 or so. I took mine to a dealer because i don't like messing with automatic transmissions. Hope that helps.

The dropping resistor controls the transmission pressure , when the resistor goes bad your shifts will be hard and TCM will command the ECU to throw 1205 code.
here is waht you do:
-whip out your ohmeter and check the resitace of your dropping resistor
it should read 12ohms, the resistor sits right behind the stock air box on the driver side strut tower.
if the dropping resistor checks out ok, you might have to drop the valve body and replace the shift solenoids , Nissan has new kit which retails for around $140.
There are very detailed instructions on the org , if you decide to do this yourself let me know and i will find those for you.
Otherwise be prepared to shell out atleast $700 for repair at the dealer.
good luck and keep us updated

do not let the stealer charge you $400 for this part !!!! Nissan came out with TSB and they have new repair kit which they sell for $140 !!!! knowledge is power !!!!!
Those bastards tried to sell me the $400 part first , and then i came back with the copy of TSB , I have plastered the TSB at their window and few minutes later i walked out with $400 part which i only paid $140 for.

You guys kick ***, I can't believe the responses I have gotten. I will definitely keep you guys posted on what happens. Thanks everyone for all of your help. Is there anyone who has actually replaced their own solenoid packs by hand?

yes , i have replaced them myself,
All my car needed was a new dropping resistor , a mere $40 part
But Nissan missdiagnosed my car and wanted to replace the solenoid assembly
There was no way i would pay $700 for this , so i have replaced the solenoid assembly myself , but to my upmost supprise that didn't solve the problem
I was pretty much stumped, gave it back to dealer and told him to find the problem
and if tranny pull was needed -to give me a call
They had the car for 3 days and they didn't find the problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in mean time i did some research on .org and it all pointed towards dropping resistor
I have called the dealer and told him to check the resistance of dropping resistor
30 mins later he calls me back saying that they have found the problem - it was the dropping resistor !!!!!! WTF ~~~~~~
Bastards changed out in 30sec and he kindly said - we won't charge you for labor !!!
how do you charge somebody for 30 sec of labor !!!!

Sucks that I had to pay for both services, but i'm just glad the car is back to working - we have to pass a ODB2 scan in order to pass emissions in Northern Virginia.

Anyone received a PO 745 code
Its the Pressure Control Solenoid Malfunction.
I was qouted at Aamco for 700$ to replace the solenoid, wondering if this is correct? Anyway to tell if solenoid is definitely the problem?
Thanks!

1999 maxima
i have a check engine light, the instrument at the garage said fuel pressure soleniod. replaced the fuel press regulator and the symptoms remain. i did check the resistor assbly as suggested in this thread . the resistor is open, and after replacing it ( it's $52 )the, the hard shifting disappeared. just the light now, which can be reset anytime when i go to the garage.
