Help needed: Brake light on!

Ive had my 98 GLE now for a year and havent had any problems swith it, until tonight. In a matter of 12 hour the temp here in CT went from 54 degrees sunny to 30 and snow.

I get in my car to drive off tonight from work and when I get to the main road my brake light comes on. The first thing i did was jam on the brakes to make sure I still had them then again to see if the ABS was affected and they work fine. When i got to a stop light I turned the car off then on again and the light remained.

Does anyone know why its on?

My pads arent that low I checked them like 2 months ago.

The alternator would throw the brake and battery light, add brake fluid and check your pads, they may be low.
