Blue/Red Gauges w/in-dash shift light[pics]
wariow: thanks for that writeup by the way... but there is nothing that explains how to get that whitish blue color...
my theory is that he used alternating white and blue high flux (75 - 90 degree spread) LEDs. This way you get a soft mixture of the white a blue. I would LOVE to know how it was really done... i am experimenting on an extra cluster i have now, trying to achieve the same effect. too bad the high flux leds are like $2 each!

I have done my gauges with the same 2-tone effect and did not need to perform anything as elaborate as you have suggested. Here is the link to the pictures of my gauges. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=417185 Here is a hint for you. You can use the same color LED for the entire gauge to create the 2-tone effect. I will chime in tomorrow with the answer if you have not already guessed how before then. Have fun thinking about it until then.

scrumtrulescent!!! anyways very sweet job. Did you think about trying to get the 7 and 8 on the tachometer white, or did you prefer it to be red.

very clean!! wow looks very luxurious looking! how did you do the shift light? is there anything up there other than the turn signals and the Hi-Beam signal? I thin the hi-beam signal is a bit off to the right, leaving room for a fourth item to the left of it correct?

The paint acts like a filter that blocks the light so by removing it, it will allow more light to pass through. A simple solution but some may be afraid to sand their gauges for fear of destroying them.
