Purpose of cutting bump stops?

Purpose of cutting bump stops?

people have told me that i should have cut my bump stops when i dropped my car on gr2s and maxspeeds. i didnt know what to do so i left them alone...do i have to go back and cut them?.

You don't have to.

But, if you want a smoother ride, you should. Cut about an inch off.

The purpose is simple: with lowering springs, the strut assembly ends up being shorter. Unless the new springs are significantly stiffer, you need to cut the bump stop to restore the full length of travel. Otherwise, on good bumps you'll hit the bump stops and it will be more jarring. They're only supposed be compressed in very extreme situations. You should also get an alignment.

If your g/f has a nice rack though it's not all bad Just try to keep your eye on the road every once in a while.
