Yeah, I did my own. It's not hard and you can always buy more if you screw up. Don't let a professional do it. You will pay out the nose and if you just take some time and practice you can get it exact. All you use is soap, squeege, and tint. How can you go wrong?

i just got 15% all around for free, including stripping tint that was on there since 95. i dont know about other areas, but $100 is pretty standard for tint around my area on a 4door such as the maxima, maybe im just in a good area. i got mine from a friend for spring break nationals in daytona so its all who you know really. the back window is a pita though. if you do take on the task, use baby shampoo instead of soap, it works alot better. and if you have a sliding glass window you can use it always helps. dont forget a heat gun either.

yeah, I'd pay to have it done. I had a friend try to do mine, and he's tinting 20-30 cars, and he couldn't do it. Said he tried all day, and wasted a roll of tint, but couldn't get the back windows without a special tool. Supposedly he could have got it from his supplier for $50, though it wouldn't have been worth it for one car. I still need to get mine tinted

If you do try to do it yourself, do the sides first, for practice. Rear windows on cars really do suck. Trucks? much more easy.

I've tinted my last 2 cars myself (with help from someone who has done it many times) and they both turned out good. I only got one buble on the rear drivers side window from someone rolling the window down before it was completely dry. I am planning on doing my Max in the next couple of weekends if it ever decides to stop raining!!!!

if your lazy like me, and others, then pay somebody to do it for you. if you really want to save the money that bad, then practice yourself, then try it and see how it comes out. ill bet less than 10% of people with tinted windows actually did it themselves, and ill bet out of that <10%, ill bet only a few actually did a decent job

I tried to tint the windows on my friend's Pimpmobile Dodge Spirit. My other friend and I started with the rear window. HAHA We didn't know what we were getting into. Yes, I would pay someone to do it. I'm glad my Maxima came with some tints. But, they are too light. I need to get some <5%'s. HEHEHE

That's awesome man!!! Nice quote!!! Soooooooooo true. After going through tint piece after tint piece throwing it out cuz you fcked up, gets frustrating. And you also need a good quality tint too, not the sht from Walmart. Pay to get it done, a professional job is WELL worth it!!! Listen to more than half of the replys and judge for yourself.

if you ask me, it is always worth the money to get a porfessional job done on anything you can. it will always look great and if they f**k it up, then you dont have to pay again to get it fixed.

On the same subject is there anything I should know before pulling tint off the back window(just don't want to screw up defrost lines) or is the same as a normal window?

You have a tint shop??

I am down in Hanover, PA and our local tint guy is expensive.

What do you charge, and will you do 15% all the way around?

i was going to ask the same thing crockpot. i got mine done for 150. i;ve taken both my maximas there, and he gave me a discount the second time. 15% all around with llumar tint, lifetime warranty. it was good. make sure you get good tint, or it will fade and look like poo in a few years. Llumar is supposedly the best

Comes off the same way as the other windows, but don't use a razor blade. Most auto parts stores (and most Wal-Marts) have a kit with razor blade and a spray to remove the adhesive.

I was planning on tinting my own windows but after tryint to remove the old gunk from the back window I would imagine it's pretty damned hard to work in that area with the glass as curved as the Maxima's. Unfortunatly our local shop charges $185 for 4 door cars.
