well... if its a leaky injector that would mean its leaking into your engine right? that means you would have to do a little more than clean it out. you would have to replace the injector(s) theres a possibility that more than one could be bad. then flush out your system. i had all mine replaced a few months ago. if that is the problem, do a compression test or have a mechanic do it to make sure your engines alright

Go easy on the taco bell.

Look at your fuel injectors with a flashlight. If one of them look wet then you know what needs to be changed.

It can also be a vacuum leak or a clogged vapor canister.

Can be a lot of things. You just need to poke around.

I have seen an injector leak from the seal on the fuel rail and cause a fuel smell inside the car

Maybe something simple, like a fuel filter? I don't know, I'm just throwing something out there...

Hole in fuel filter hose, you only smell it when starting up because of the initial increase in pressure at start up? It's worth a glance.

That's probably what I got on my car, too. Ive wondered, does the gas smell come through the climate control as well?I haven't checked the fuel injectors: not much I can do about it anyways, with injectors costing $350 a pop . My question is is there any long-term damage? I know it is not healthy to have a busted engine part for any length or time, but the cash simply isn't there right now. Will I have a ruined engine 2 months from now, or will I just have to ...ahem...drive slowly and prudently until I can pay up to the stealership? Thanks

EGR causes a 'weird' smell, won't smell like fuel so i doubt it would be that.

I had this problem and also my friends 300z had same prob. fuel was leaking out of the rubber hose on the fuel rail. I just loosened up the clamp moved it a little and retightened it. The leak was hard to find because it was only about one drop and it evaporates fast. It doesnt take much to create a powerfull smell.
