Anyone with problems w/ EGR system
Anyone with problems w/ EGR system
Have any of you 4th gen guys removed or blocked off your EGR system? IF so how did you go about eliminating it? I know the 5th gen system is a little different but its basic setup is the same.
PS the car cranks and revs on its own to around 3k and then idle dropps to around 1000 where the car stumbles and shakes alot till it dies. I am getting 0 vaccum on my boost guage so that would indicate a vaccum problem. Could it be the intake manifold gasket since i didn't replace it when removing the manifold?
Thanks
Chris

I think your EGR Valve is clogged with carbon deposits. My 95 did that, a piece of carbon got stuck in the valve and caused the valve to be stuck open, and it ran REALLY bad. I decided to remove the entire system.
check the egr port. the 3 occasions that i had to remove the intake manifold for a knock sensor replacement i found out that the EGR port was clogged on the intake manifold and the EGR pipe itself.
mind you this was 3 different cars and i found the same thing.
