immobilizer

hey guys, my friend had co-signed for a car, and they guy messed up, and so he had the car found, and towed. He didnt know about the immobilzer and now even with the right key, it wont turn on. What can we do to get it to work?

well the dealer told him if he tried three times with a key that didnt have the chip in it, it would lock up. He tried once, and it locked up

If it is a Maxima or even a Nissan for that matter it should after about a half hour tops from when it "locked up." This happend with my Mother In Laws 2000 Altima. She tried starting it with the wrong key then the correct key wouldn't start the car either. I called the dealer and they said to wait about 15-20 minutes and it would start and it did. So it sounds like there may be something else wrong with the car.
