Swapped coil packs and the miss is gone.

I've been dealing with the accosional bump (misfire) at idle for about a year now. No check engine light and it doesn't seem to miss under a load. My gas mileage has been fine, performance seemed good too. Thought it could be a dirty injector, but the miss is so clean and pronounced that I felt only a missed spark could be causing it.

I have a wrecked 96 with 94000 miles on it sitting in our lot so I took all 6 coils out of that car. Then I took all 6 coils out of my 99 and measured all 12 coils with an ohm meter. Basically what I would up doing is sorting out the coils in order of resistance measurements. I then took the coils that measured the same or very close to each other and installed them in my car. I had measurements vary from 1.5 meg ohms up to 2.4 meg ohms. In the end I wound up with 6 coils that were around the 1.7 mark.

So far the car seems to run fine and the miss is gone. Both cars, my 99 and the 96 had Hansin coils.

It doesn't make any sound, you feel it. It's sort of like a hickup while the car is idling in drive.

You see this thread? Maybe take apart one or two of the high resistance ones.

Saw that thread, but the resistance differance was on the primary side.
