Stiff SE Ride

Stiff SE Ride
How stiff should a SE ride? I have a 95 SE and it seems to ride great on the interstate, but around town it seems like I can feel the little bumps pretty good. I have Nissan struts on it or at least thats what they are labeled. I am not sure if they are original or not. I have owned the car for 20k miles and it has 140k on it. Thanks.

struts may be bad. check whether or not you hear a lot of "clunking" noises when you hit bumps in the road. You'll feel every bump hard when your struts are bad. Since you're at 140k, it may be possible.

Are you running the stock 15" sawblades. The OEM tires I have call for 33psi on the front and 32psi on the rear. However a tire shop told me yesterday that if I ran 40 I would have improved tire wear, cornering and fuel economy, offset by a stiffer ride.
If you're doing mostly city driving, drop them down to 30psi and see what happens and then inflate them when you're going on a trip. Just an experiment.
I have a 95SE and don't have any ride problems, but I only have coming up to 58K on it and still have the OEM Goodyear Eagle RSA on 15" sawblades as I'm a 4x4er, lol!

Yeah I'm a 4x4er too. I have the stock 15's and the car rides nice and smooth on the highway and interstate. Just seems to be a little bumpy over bumps and railroad tracks. Its not like I am wanting or trying to take corners fast. This is my daily driver. I just want it to ride good.

I suspect there is nothing wrong with your car. Have you ever had it on a washboard gravel road? It will feel like you're being kicked in the a$$ and the back end will bounce around alot. It's a product of the beam axle and the stiffer SE suspension. I know if I drive over a manhole cover or paving repairs I can feel it - its no big deal. Again try slightly lower tire pressure or buy a GLE and drive around with a hat with a feather in the hatband.

Obviously you don't like the stiffer suspension that comes with an SE. The only thing wrong with the car is the driver, lol! Don't sweat the small stuff. If that's the only problem you have with your car, you should consider yourself fortunate given its got 140K on it.

on my tires it says max psi. 44, whats a good air pressure to have it at?
my ride is pretty stiff too. no rolling around corners, except for my bad tires. and i can feel almost all of the road asif i wer on a bike. i think my struts are still good tho?

Lift up the center armrest, look underneath and you'll find a sticker with the recommended tire pressures.
