I don't know the details to how they work. Guess they are supposed to "project" the light better than normal headlights. I've got a friend with an Accord who converted to the projection headlights and he told me he couldn't see anything at night anymore...Go figure...

Those were probably the first gen APC projectors...basically a looks good test run...supposedly a lot of accord guys were having problems seeing with them. Projectors are supposed to project light as the name would imply. they are suppose to help put more light on the road so you can see.

Projectors...

i had projector lamps on my civic.... they lit up the road fairly well, but there was very little light goign to the sides (thats the point of projectors). alot of cars come with projectors stock now... the new STS, LHS, BMWs, the Tiburon has always had them. infinity J30 has them, and so does the lexus SC. there are tons of others as well. there are no aftermarket projectors for the max though... so dont worry about finding any... they dont exist.

Actualy Nealoc187, I believe that Phillips makes the projector system for the Max (9004). I believe that they sell it with the ballast and the bulb for around $400 per side. I could be wronf though so you may want to check it out. I found it one night screwing around. If I can find it again I'll post the link or phone #.

HID lights and projector lights are two differnt things..

HID lights are bulbs

Projector lights are bulb housing

BMW and Audi's have projector lights.. the old Infiniti J30 had projector lights.. its those lights when you look at the light coming towards you its just one small round section.. doesn't spread of the whole light like the max.. it directs light better

Yeah, what sprint said. HID lights are differerent than Projectors. he already explained how. just wanted to comment that cars that happen to have BOTH HID and PROJECTORS look really cool... take new BMWs for instance, or the brand new cadillac STS. i see a 540i and one of the brand new STS's around my work all the time... damn near blinds me at night... but it looks really sweet so its worth it.

well actually BMW's have a Xenon HID lighting system, not projector lights like the civics have. Xenon's are crazy especially the Euro xenon ( which by the by is illegal according to DOT ).... but the light they emit is alot brighter.... Some ppl have flashed me for having the lights on thinking that i had the highbeams on. It truly is bright.

BMWs

BMWs do have projector lenses, and HID systems. As far as i know all E46 3 series and all E39 5-series have projection lenses, with SOME of those having an HID system option.
