Just a straight up muffler job. I have an OBX muffler and I want them to install. What should this cost? Meineke quoted $100. I feel that this is too much for an easy job. They have to make the pipe from the back then weld the two pieces where the hangars attach. Let me know guys. thanks.

Im not 100% sure, but an OEM 4th gen muffler is at least $200 by itself i think. If you plan on keeping your car for more than a couple years i would recomend that you have whatever pipe that needs to be welded replaced. I think whatever they'll put on for $100 would be cheap and wouldnt last as long as you might want. This is YOUR MAXIMA, go with the good stuff. If your child's leg was broken, would you have it fixed right or cut it off and attatch a peg leg?

Don't go to Meinekie - if they charge you more than $50 they are ripping you off big time

A local shop I go to does welding for ~$10...I wouldn't pay more than $30 for a well done job.

As far as how long the muffler should last , if you live in areas where they put down road salt in the winter your oem muffler might not last 5 years. Most of the maximas I've seen from the midwest salt belt have had tons of rusted through mufflers at about 7 years. On the other an Arizona car might last near forever.
