Wanna hear Borla exhaust on a Max?

Hey everyone, I finally got soundclips up of my new Borla exhaust on my Max. I already posted this in a few exhaust threads where some guys were discussing different setups but I figured I'd make my own thread about it so everyone who's interested can see and hear it. Go to http://plus.xdrive.com/u/144493298/...T3KhLrddRu5eoMr You will need to register an xdrive account, but just select the free 50MB option, that way you don't have to pay anything (and you'll also end up giving yourself your own way of hosting your own soundclips in the future if you don't already have a way to do so). After registering you'll be able to launch your own xdrive account and access my shared folder, Maxima with Borla, and download the clips. Please let me know what you think! Oh and if you'd like to see pics of the exhaust on my Max you can check out my (new) cardomain, http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/837045. Hope you like it, thanks!

You should find a different server to put that clip on...registering just to hear a sound clip is lame.

Sorry everyone my college server that I normally use to host things I can't access while off campus for the summer, so I had to find a new means of trying to host things. A few fellow orgers have been kind enough to offer to host the clips for me so I'll be posting a new thread with the clips once that's taken care of. Sorry for the inconvenience

The Borla muffler is a Pro XS, and the b-pipe is budget. Stock y-pipe at the moment but a budget y-pipe is going on in the very near future.

By the way you have mail

Do you hear a drone at highway speeds around 65-70? I had the exact same set up before my y pipe was put on and I got an annoying drone. Strangely after the y pipe was put on the highway drone went away. Though the exhaust got louder as a whole after the y was put one, there was less of a Drone sound. Just curious to see if you are experiencing this. (i assume you have the resonated b pipe like me)

New hosting and please right-click save as! Sounds pretty good to me I love how mufflers sound with the stock Y-pipe.

Looks like you're in the minority here, everyone else seems to like it. Borla specializes in exhausts for corvettes and other muscle cars so I find it surprising you would think it was ricey, but to each his own.

Anj109 - I got the muffler from an ebay shop, Wicked Nickey's Exhaust. Don't be put off by the name, they have excellent feedback, they shipped the muffler quickly, and even contacted me to let me know that the tip I ordered with the muffler wouldn't fit without some custom fabrication. Excellent guys to deal with.

Dstyle - I haven't even gotten the car on the highway yet so I can't give you feedback if there is any noticeable droning but I'll PM you and let you know after I get it on the highway (hopefully by tomorrow).

To everyone else - Glad you like how it sounds

yeah, I know Borla's backround

It's just that when I opened up my intake it sounded so V8ish
so when I saw your thread I thought "this is gonna be awesome"
I guess my expectations were out of whack.
I should have given credit where credit was due, i.e at high rpm it was
a cool sound, very racey
but I couldn't get over that low RPM popping sound

I hate it when V8 trucks with pipes rap out too, sounds like
an out of tune beater.

Maybe I just like high rpm.

Unfortunately, you're not going to get a nicer sound with a V6, especially for you since you don't like it.

WOW that sounds absolutely FANTASTIC. Most other mufflers ive heard mostly sounded like ricebag 4bangers, and ive heard A LOT.

Looks like THIS is the setup i'm going to be going with, this is EXACTLY what i want. wow im shocked that it sounds so good. Probably going to get a custom b pipe though, budget is kinda expensive, custom will probably be cheaper and same performance.

I know there arent supposed to be gains, but did you notice your car being quicker at all?

bhmax, sounds good man. Actually it sounds just like my ride, or at least on my computer speakers it does! There probably isnt that much of a diff when you put the y pipe on, but i do remember it getting louder, also the y pipe might add a bit of rasp to the sound, unfortunatly. But from what i hear on your clips it sounds just like my car.

Not a problem, I remember when I first put my intake in I loved the sound too. I'm assuming the popping sound you're referring to is the slight stuttering when I'm revving? To me that's almost a similar sound to the sound my dad's '72 Stingray makes. I mean I don't notice any bees in the can sound with this setup and that's normally what I consider ricey which is why I was just a little confused. We all have our own opinions. In my opinion magnaflow sounds god awful, but I know some orgers swear by them, so don't feel like I took offense or anything I was just trying to understand your point

Loe Max - I appreciate your support!

4X4max - Glad you love how it sounds! And you're right I haven't experienced any noticeable gains with this setup (but I'm sure I will once I get my y-pipe). However the car does seem a bit more responsive than it was. I hit the pedal and it just goes...And yes if you like it THAT much then by all means get this setup for your car!
