No Offense but....

No offense intended but am I the only one that doesnt like the way the 95 & 96 4th gens looks?

I own a 98 and love it, but when I look at a 95/96 the grill rear tail light set up just annoys me.

It may be minor differences but 95/96 seems to look smaller and just not as sexy as the 97's+.

I guess that why many people seem to do a conversion of their front end.
for those of you with conversion, if you didnt do it for the reason im stating, then why did you do it? simply because you were in an accident and had the opportunity???

I actually happen to like the front end of the 95/96 SE's with fogs better. The rear of the 97+ is better only when bottom tail lights are cleared out. Other than that I can careless what year it is, same car.

personally I love the looks of my 96, and think 97-99 rear ends are ugly.

End result, I'll bang my girlfriend, you bang yours.

i don't really like the looks of the 97-99 lower valance. i like the grill up on top better with the body color bar, but other than that, the front bumper of a 95-96 looks nicer. I also like the fogs better than the slanted ones of the next years.

I like the 95/96 grill with screen inserts better than the 97+, but I do like the 97+ rear better than the 95/96. Eventually I will have a half breed.

I agree, I would much prefer the look of the '97-'99 maximas than the '95 or '96, but this is just an opinionated thread...

Nissan changed the cosmetics after 95 and 96 so that they would become limited models and then collectibles.... my 4th Gen 96 is going to be worth thousands one day because its harder to find than all those 97-99 ones...especially in pebble-beige

me personally love the look of the 95-96 max better then the 97-99. the 95-96 look more sporty and not as bulky as the 97-99. i love them even more when you put a stillen kit on them and rare red/clears on the back. maybe its because that what my max looks like.lol

I like how the 95/96 look w/ red-clear tails, but w/o it, it does not look good.

Well, seeing as i've had both, I like them both. Though they have their differences, thats what makes them both nice to look at. I'd take either one in a heartbeat. A 4th gen is a 4th gen is a 4th gen.

I hate the 95-96 front ends and rears with the wave in the trunk, and the interior looks like crap...IMO the 97-99 flows alot better with the lines and looks more modern..

I prefer the looks of my 95 over the 97 and 98s. I particularly like the front grille on my 95 and I don't see where the back end of the 97 and 98s represents an improvement; if anything its a step backwards.

I like the 96 rear end (even better with red/clears) more than the 97 rear...But the 97 front end I like much better.

So if I really had a choice, I'd get 96 with a 97 front end. Plus I could just TS/JWT my stock ECU without having to buy a new one!

I think they both look good. Sometimes I'll see a 97 and think the front looks so nice but then I see a 96 and it looks so nice also. They both are good. I do think the 97-99 front looks a little better but I definitely prefer the 95/96 rear.

vsamoylov: your sig is the craziest pic because everytime I look at it I think your car is blue. Then I read your info on the side and it says it's the redish color and then I think something is wrong. And then I look at it again and I finally can see the tint of red but it sure looks blue in a lot of ways.

yeah both maximas look good and both have postive and negatives. and about the interior being different between 4th gen and 4.5 gen? they did not even change anything.

thanks for the compliments on my car color. actually it is a complicated color that has 2 different stages of black in it, violet, and some other color mixed with clear. its from the 350z.

They changed the cup hodlers, steering wheels, gauge needles in 97, and the odometer in 98.

The 95s came with 15" wheels, not 16", and no power front passenger seat. However, they are also lighter and faster stock.

well, i have a 95 with a 97 converted front. i think the 95 front doesnt look as good as the 97 cuz the bumper is too round, and the fog lights dont look as good as in the 97, all hidden. but i really dont like the end from the 97. i like better the detached maxima emblem than the one piece one. the only reason i wud get a 97 trunk wud be to make the gen II altezzas fit.

ok 95/96 steering wheel - major
95/96 tails - eh they are ok
95/96 grill - i actaully really like it now. its grown on me - i can see how it looks sporty, especially w/ AE headlights.
95/96 ECU - major . im quite envious of FI options since i will be there shortly

I think if it were possible, the 97-99 front bumper with 95-96 grill (or similar)for the sporty look or 97-99 grill for the classy look, But definitly the 95-96 rear with red/clears. The way the line curbs at the top and the smoothness of the lights in the rear are way better than the bulkiness of the 97-99!!
