Maximum Mileage
Maximum Mileage
this has prob been answered many times but my search isn't working so sorry if it has........i was just wonder on average or estimate, how many miles should a 4th gen maxima last for as long as the oil is change regularly? If my Max as 100k miles on it is it worth it to start modding it?
The most I've seen so far is about 265, but several months ago there was a picture of the odometer of the most-clapped out Maxima I've ever seen. It was about a '91 or so and it had 420 or 430K on it and was in for servicing. Does anyone rember that? The car was black, filthy and I believe in a shop somewhere in New York. It looked like the owner lived in it, lol!
At 100K your car is just getting broken in.

I started modding mine at 87k, put in an extended rev limiter @ 180k, and still it sees past stock redline daily or at least 5x/wk and now has 228k, still 27-28 MPG, no oil leaks, good compression on all 6 ...etc etc ...
Things to watch out for on an older car, not really high mileage more older in years are worn out bushings besides normal wear and tear items.

I did not start modding my car until around 100k.
I did put the rims on at about 26k miles, and my stereo equipment right away
.
There's no way to guess how many miles a motor will last. It will last as long as possible depending on how you treat it. End of story.
The more you stomp on it and do burnouts and stupid stuff like that, the faster parts wear out and break.
Maintinence is the most important of all.

maximization- I would say don't let the number scare you. If you really are planning on changing it anyway I would just beat on the VQ you got. I bet it will hold up to pretty much anything you throw at it.
205k on my 98, i've been driving the car about 100 miles a day for a couple of years for work, not showing any wear or tear in the tranny nor the engine i think i'm going to go at least 250 before replacing anything. Maximas never die
