98 max vs 93 Legend
#1
Anyone race a legend yet? I don't race but my friend has a 93 auto Legend and wants to race me. I have a 5spd maxima. Do I have a chance of betting him? Welps, I wanted to know some inputs before I race him, any will be fine.

I used to own a legend.....unless he has a Legend GS 6-speed manual...which he doesn't, and you don't miss gears....you'll most likely smoke him.....my Max is MUCH faster than my old legend was.

Ahh I can answer this one. This girl I'm seeing has like a 92-93 Legend, the one with the 220-230 HP motor. Although it has 140K miles that thing runs so smooth. Anyways off the line it's no match for the Maxima. However, one time my other friend was driving it on the highway and it boned out pretty good, I caught up shortly, but still I didn't smoke it just gradually pulled.
Another example:
One time I was driving home and she decided to bone out. I was going 15 and just shifted into second, so at around 20 MPH I gunned it after her in second. So my engine wasn't in the power band. She pulled quite a bit away from me but by third I rocketed by.

No sweat!
I own a 91 Legend 158k miles Auto 4 door(runs great though).
I also own a 96 Maxima 71k miles Auto.
Don't need to wory about it, you will smoke him easy. And my is an Automatic...Unless he has a Type II engine, that is a whole another story.

I dont know what Legends you guys have been racing, but maximas dont have a good time around THIS legend owner.
I have an Auto Legend 91 type II although the extra 30 ponies dont really do much over the type 1. i wish i had a 5spd or the 6spd, but i cant have it all.
All in all the races would be pretty close unless u match up an SE manual 222hp max to an auto legend, the max would naturaly win.
match up auto to auto and manual to manual of any year and youll see a close battle.
didnt you guys run 190hp previous to the newest max?

Living up to the name
I think the Legend coupe style is really sharp and masculine. But what a heavy inefficient car! If it was more like the Maxima in performance and fuel economy, I'd have picked up one of the last years of Legend coupe.
Did anyone here ever drive the GS model with 6 speed?

Yea ive done a transplant.
I just broke into the 13's
man i am so excited.
the legend is quite heavy, however the legends engine is quite the work horse. at the track last night i say a previous than recent max in auto trim running 15.7 which is not bad. a dissapointment was a new max se 5spd with stillen kit and mods only pulling 15.1, which is to my knowlege what the car should be running stock off the show room floor.

I always lose to my freinds legend... didn't beleive that his auto broke loos when it shifted to second but a ride in that thing showed that he did it w/o effort. I know im a way better launcher than him cuz he can never catch me down the 1/8th till the very end when I shift into the autos 3rd, thing is you dont win the race unless you are ahead at the end of the race. stupid legend
