had this code for a while... just wondering if i could just take it off and let the code go away.. or would the light remain if i removed the valve..

had a argument w/ the dealership today. went to pick a valve up and they pulled up the file and i asked.. if this was definetly the one i needed (considering they ran diagnostics a month ago) he said no way to tell until they done a smoke test or some ****.

i ask about the drop resistor and he didn't even know what it was..

anyway.. the purge control valve is the one located on top of the engine next to the intake manifold and the throttle body correct? its not located under the car in the rear is it?

ive heard two different answers and i need to get this thing straightend out for good.

 

It depends on the year. 1995's are in the rear I think, I don't know what year it moved to the front though.

its probably in the rear due to the fact that the 95's and 96's have the same build style

 

thats what i thought.. and thats what the dealer told me the first time..

i went back yesterday.. and they pulled it up in the computer and he said the only purge control valve they are seeing is on the IM

so i don't know... im about ready to take all this evap crap stuff off...

Have had the same code, swapped the part, still same thing. Any luck with yours?

 

I had the same code too. I took my canister off, took it apart and cleaned to really good and put it back on and its been good since. this was well over a year ago.
