The ones at Autozone/Advanced auto don't fit good, the inlet is too small.

i asked this question a while ago i think...at a meet , i saw someone with a small filter on the valve cover i think it was. front center of the engine block
aperently it doesnt do anything at all. someone said it was a breather valve for gasses and the hose goes to your intake and gets burned back through your engine..not sure what's true.
but i was thinking....if youre getting used air recirculated back around again from this valve...wouldnt there be some kind of gain from not tainting the clean unburnt air [optimal] in your intake passages? i would guess your mpg would go down but maybe youd get somehting out of more pure air?
i dont know anything!

...if you do it i will too

A breather filter relieves your engine of positive crankcase pressure and recycled carbon vapors from your engine, which cause loss of throttle response due to build-up on the throttle body. The Breather helps resolve that problem, by venting the vapors into the atmosphere.

and another link on breathers and their pros...

id think if you did get a breather filter like those on hondas, itd just be purely cosmetic. I mean, come on its a short hose that was on there at first for chrissake, how would a filter give any positive gains. They do look better than just a hose there though

any possibility this keeps the TB clean since spent air isnt being re-circulatecd back in, thats a reward itself IMO

This is part of the PCV system and is emissions related kinda like the EGR system. Read this for a more indepth explanation. Yes its for another car but the system is similar to ours. And yes, employing a breather filter will help the engine but might not be good for emissions.

I have seen some org members use this anyway but its been a long while since I've seen those threads. Without the search function, its pretty hard to locate them anymore. I wouldn't worry too much about this breather filter. If you want to try it anyway, go for it.

**Edit**

Just saw this also. Notice it says that its not for use on emission controlled vehicles.

It sucking all that hot air in from the engine??? I highly doubt it, this produces a pretty loud intake growl though.
