Anybody know?

Did a search but all I could find was the resistance specs. The # on the sensor is 23731-38U01.

Thanks.

23731-38U01=old part #
new part#=23731-38U12

that part # is both Hitachi and Mitsubishi's part #. Is there mfg marking on the sensor?

there is some sort of symbol on it, and it is not the tri-diamond mitsu logo which makes me think that it is hitachi, but I want to make sure. The symbol looks like a circle with 2 parallel verticle bars with a smaller circle in between them.

update: Well I just replaced my camshaft position sensor. I purchased the part from Nissan. My Maxima is a 1996, and it had the original cps. The one on my car was a Hit part (you can see the symbol), and the replacement part from Nissan is a mitsu part (again you can see the mitsu symbol). I have no idea if one brand is better than the other, but it is what the dealer sold me.

Did the new CPS fix your problem?
