ecu

my max has been starting up weird lately. after turning the key, i gotta step on the gas in order for it to turn on. it's like a cold start problem but its been so warm these days in NYC and i'm having these problems. i brought the car to nissan to do a check on it and they tell me that i need a new ECU and a starter.

does anyone where can i get a new 99 ECU for cheap?

ECU at the stealership cost ~800 bucks.

maybe try cleaning your throttle body, it helps. I had a similar problem too and it kind of went away now since its almost summer but I cleaned my throttle body and from then on it worked fine.

Good God man DO NOT LISTEN TO THE DEALER!!! Do a search on hard starting... just about every body that has taken their car to the dealer for this problem has been told they need a new ecu. Some actually bought it and it still did not correct the problem. Never did it actually solve anything. Trust me it is not your ecu!!! And it is not your starter! If it cranks and gives a good effort, then the starter is working.

I currently suffer from the same problem and I WILL find out what it is. There are several thing you can do to fix it:

1. replace the fuel filter and spark plugs if it has not already been done.

2. clean out your tb and iacv... it is supprising what this can do...

3. If you are still having problems then it is diagnostic time... have a QUALITY independant shop look at the following: engine coolant temp sensor, camshaft positon sensor (PHASE), crankshaft position sensor (POS), fuel pressure regulator... all of these can cause a hard/no start/ restart problem.
