loose belt?

Lately ive been hearing what sounds like a loose belt, it quietly squeels when the car is idle. Nothing overwhelming, but just enough to be annoying.. is there some belt that commonly comes loose on our cars that can be tightened easily??

Thanks for the input.

yes, they can be tightened very easily. There is a 14mm adjuster just above the idler pulley. Tightening it will push the idler pulley down, causing the belt to tighten. You may need to loosen the bolt holding the idler pulley though before the adjuster can do it's job properly. This is what I'd do:

1. Check the belt for cracks or other indications of wear. Replace if necessary
2. To tighten:
a. Loosen the bolt holding the idler pulley. You want it just tight enough so the pulley cannot wiggle on the bolt.
b. Tighten the 14mm adjuster so the belt's deflection is proper
c. Tighten the nut holding the idler pulley
