A/C Recharge

You must convert the system over to R-134a. Don't try to put in R-134a into a R-12 system. That's a no no. Your compressor will certainly not last longer than a week.
R-134a system is a whole new system, new compressor and lines.. ect.. My A/C is cold as hell and I mean cold. Solid ice baby. Go to target pick up a recharge kit with the gauge already on the unit itself. Inexpensive bottle, will fill up your A/c if it isnt that cold. It will also read the PSI of the low side line. Also will indicate a problem if there is one.

i guess recharging a bit w/ r134a is good, but i guess if we had to COMPLETELY refill or charge a system, oil is needed.
even my manual suggests to use a specific oil, but it doesn't say for which application.
so basically anything with a guage then? or will it be better to buy a RETRO fit kit? and save the fittings just in case?
my system is cold and i dont think i have any leaks, even the technician above said, a system shoulnd't need charging unless a leak is present. so im not in a rush to try this out. but checkers has a retrofit kit on sale.
can someone confirm the r134a/oil thing? i would think a system that is cold, needs just a bit of r134a alone cans in it, while a system that has lost most of it needs the r134a/oil cans?

What happens when you over charge your AC system ? Can that be done using the little cans from AZ. My compressor makes a whining noise above 2000 rpm, also seems compressor is no kicking in & out. It blows super cold air after I added a can. Seems to be too much pressure maybe ???? Can I just bleed some off?

I have the same noise, its starting to go away, you did over fill it. best way to remove some pressure from the system is to put back on a container or
R-134a and let some of it go back into the bottle.

Its highly not recommended to do this but.... Wear gloves, Safety glasses, an air mask and a long sleeve shirt. Make sure you have water near you and a rag to clean up the oil/freon that might go all over the side of the engine. Be very careful.
