Windows wont roll up
Windows wont roll up
Just a quick question here for you electrician types.. A friends Maxima is burning up fuses every time he tries to roll up the power windows. Under the drivers side console fuse box, the very bottom row center column is a fuse rated at 7.5a for electronic stuff. In his car, the fuse was a 20a and it was blown out. I replaced it with one of my spare 7.5a fuses, and it blew out my fuse. Then I put in one of my spare 20a fuses and the windows went about 1/2 way up before stopping. Checked the fuse and the 20a is dead too.
Obviously there is a problem with the electrical system somewhere, but neither of us know how to troubleshoot those kinds of things.. One last thing, about a month ago, when this problem started, someone had to give him a jump start. Anyone know where we should start looking? Or is this a dealership type issue?

FIrst of all it is a bad idea to put in higher fuses. Now, does this happen with all 4 windows? Have you tried lubricating the track of the window? Also see if there is any diffrence between the driver door switches vs the switches on each door. Let me know how it goes.
Yep understood about the fuses and agree.. This happens with all 4 windows and the sun roof, also he mentioned that the guage cluster isn't back lit anymore so there are more problems.. He went to the autoparts store and bought a couple of 20a fuses to roll his windows and sun windows closed, burned through 4 fuses to complete the job.
I will suggest he take the car to the dealer for the electrical diagnostics, but am still hoping that if anyone's had a problem like this, where they ended up tracing the problem to.

I have the same problem, but only with one window.not going up. Does anyone know where I can get a motor and regulator for the rear window of 95 maxima (driver side)? It seems that the typical website places do not stock that particular one.
bookum if u can hear somethin tryin to crank u wont need a motor just a regulator also if u hit the regulater like tap it a few times with like a screw driver or somethin sometimes thats all it needs to start workin again
*******PLEASE HELP**********************************
Help I have a similar problem. Yellow key light on. Cant turn on the accessory. Cant roll up windows (hard key doesn't work). I live in Alaska. 100 MILES FROM THE DEALER.
I've changed the car battery, the primary fob battery, and have tried the back up fob.
My brake lights do work.
I've noticed that the steering wheel lock is not engaging though.
All the while, though, the yellow light stays on while I'm seated in the car with either or both keys.
Yes I've tried to sit key in key boot. without any changes. Not even sure why they put that in the car.
And Yes, I've checked all the fuses.

bumping a 7 year old thread in a section that caters to cars three generations OLDER than yours, will yield no results for you. Keep it in the 7th gen section where you're already getting replies to your own topic. Your 2010 SV max has very little in common with 4th gen.
