http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.php?p=3969259

I am so tired of seeing Y-pipe and spark plugs threads than can be answered by the stickies.

Ha and you've only been on the forum for 3 months, how about some of the 3 year and > members, imagine how they feel! , but banning or suspending seems a little severe

Having been around a while, I think those threads should just get locked with a standard "CHECK THE STICKIES" emoticon. No need to necessarily ban/suspend the original poster.

A token suspension serving as a slap on the wrist would suffice, say a day or two, followed by longer if it's a repeat offense.

It has actually worked to a certain degree in the 5th Gen forums as far as being a disincentive for repeat threads... problem is, there are people who don't even read the Stickies, so they don't even know about that rule and will always repost... kinda ironic huh?

i think that it is too severe also. it's always going to happen whether people are suspended or not. how about if the threads are just immediately locked. or there should be a seperate thread in the 4th gen thread for y-pipes. and maybe one for other items that can become repetitive.

I am a newbie as per my post count but before i decided to register i did take the time to read through the stickies and i did find vast amounts of information about numerous different topics that could easily answer most of the basic questions that are currently being posted on the 4th gen forum. I believe there should be more than "a slap on the wrist" punishment because it does get tiresome seing the same old crap over and over again. i would also like to comment that the stickies are there for a reason and maybe before you can post replies you should maybe have to satisfy another criteria related to the stickies specifically like you have to post 15 replies before you can start a thread. maybe something similiar to that. Just a suggestion!

You are the minority, or so it seems. 86maxima96, problem is, the moderators have lives too, and if they were in here locking every y-pipe spark plug ecu code yada yada thread they'd be overwhelmed .. Maybe they leave them open for ***** and giggles, I know I at some of the comments from time to time.
bigtimemax, we respect your kind, the problem is, there aren't many of you, in fact there are some people that have been here for years and still do that dumb **** ... Oh well it wont ever end, let's enjoy it for what it's worth and laugh ....

Let's bring it down from the stickys to here ... that would eliminate all the "I want to know too" " My g/f has this same problem" "OMG yours does it too"

But then my postwhoring would be regulated and unjustified...

We are all complaigning about posts about y-pipes, ecu codes, cel's, etc. But it seems to me that if we aren't allowed to talk about those, what are we going to talk about. Arguing about how much people who don't read stickies and what grade gasoline to use are a lot more boring than y-pipes and ecu codes.

I just don't enjoy flaming I guess, besides I hate typing. I just don't get it, I found spark plugs threads when I started and read them to death and all I found was that NGK was the answer over and over and over again! Copper or plats, copper or plats!
