How does the rear rotor come off my 98 Max, looks like I need to remove bearing is this right?

The rear rotors are removed in the manner outlined in section 9-10 of the Haynes manual. Obviously you don't have one or you wouldn't be asking this question. For the sake of $20 or less, perhaps you should invest in one, get lip burn reading it and proceed accordingly.

You don't have to remove any bearing.

It slides off after the caliper assembly is out of the picture. The rears sometime need some persuasion ... hammers are my preference.

There is a small screw hole in the rotor. Find a screw that fits and screw it in, seperating the rotor from the hub.

-Take off the rear brake caliper pistons.
-Take off the rear brake caliper brackets.
-Put two lug nuts loosely back on studs for each hub so the rotor doesn't go flying.
-Get a BIG malet or hammer
-Get under car and WHACK that rotor from the back until it pops off.

The only thing holding the rotors on is rust.

Safety warning: Make sure your car is on jack stands and parking brake is on.

So does the bearing have to be removed or not? There certainly was no reference to it in the Haynes manual or in JPMax's above instructions.

No. The bearing does not need to be removed.

Replaced them two weeks ago on my brother's max.

Just a lot of rust build up on those stock rotors holding them on.

Some people on this web site are quite helpful, others need to find something better to do with there time. Above worked out great, thanks for the input. Job done in 15 minutes, no more screaming dragging warped noises, thanks.

If not then a bolt that goes into rotor 2extra smaller size holes..screw in bolt it pushes up against the hub and comes undwedge. Instead of pounding at a semi-seized rotor, less brute force needed
