nasty exhaust leak?

so today i started my car and turned down the music just to check for funny noises. about 10 seconds after turning it over, i hear a pretty loud hissing sound coming from the front end, more towards the passenger side. The strong odor of gasoline is present as well. Didn't really suspect anything since I always have music on and the windows up. i still get about 350+ miles to the tank.

would this contribute to a gas leak? would this also possibly contribute to the lack of low end power?

lol I wish my thought that I have an exhaust leak is true so i can tell myself that my car is actually quicker then I feel. As for your question about low-end power loss ... I wouldn't know, but this is definately a good thread because I want to know the problems associated with leaks other then emissions.
