Exhaust rattles? at higher rpms

Hey guys... lately I have been getting a type of rattle/vibration from the cat area of my exhaust. It only happens once the exhaust is hot, not cold. Is it my cat? Everytime I get on it, the cat smells like *%$. But, could it be my y-pipe? Anybody have any ideas?

Check your heat shield if you suspect that its coming from the cat area. Also, check the crossmember and maybe even the Y-pipe hanger to see if its loose or rattling against it.

heat shield

sounds like the heat shield to me...mine did the same thing after 2 darn muff replacements the darn things still rusted off...so i gently ripped it off...and viola no more rattling. Hangers ok? The rattling gets loud esp as water starts getting trapped and heats up and bubbles out...

well, I finally found out what the problem was....it was the big resonator that I had installed on my b-pipe. It was broken down and a little rusted inside...so it was replaced today, no more rattle noise. Hope this helps somebody.
